Gates 4168 Green Stripe Radiator / 4-Ply Coolant Hose

maximise your trucks’ cooling system efficiency

Recognising the demands of trucks, buses and commercial vehicles, Gates developed a range of fleet and heavy-duty products specifically designed and manufactured to assure reliable and trouble-free performance. Gates’ heavy-duty range of cooling system components has now been extended with Green Stripe® straight coolant hose, a new hose offering long lasting service as radiator, heater and coolant transfer hose in highly demanding conditions.

For Severe Operating Conditions Found on Stationary Engines, Construction Equipment and Off-Road Vehicle Applications.

Nitrile tube specially compounded to handle common coolants and additives.

  • Four-ply woven, heavy-duty fabric reinforcement
  • Neoprene cover resists heat, abrasion and oil
  • Handles higher temperatures and resists petroleum additives
  • Exceeds SAE 20R1 (Class B Tube, Class C Cover, Heavy Wall)
  • Reduces water loss from water permeating the hose wall and cover, a distinct advantage over silicone
  • Engineered to resist electrochemical degradation – the leading cause of hose failure
  • Temperature rating: –40°F to +275°F (–40°C to +135°C)
  • Packaging: 3 ft.(1 meter) lengths, 1 each

Caution: Do not use for gasoline or diesel transfer applications

Technologically advanced materials make Gates Green Stripe® straight coolant hose your first choice for cooling systems Gates’ new Green Stripe® straight coolant hose is a resistant and flexible radiator hose for general use on straight or slightly bent connections. Made of a special EPDM rubber compound, the hose is designed for excellent sealability and low water permeation and requires less maintenance.
Unlike ordinary EPDM rubber hose, Gates Green Stripe® straight coolant hose resists the effects of electrochemical degradation, one of the primary causes of hose failures in the field. This phenomenon occurs because different kinds of metals in the cooling system generate an electrical charge, which is carried from one component to another by the coolant. In case of a high concentration this electrical charge will affect the hose tube, eventually causing the hose to fail. In order to address the damage caused by electrochemical degradation, Gates developed an advanced ECR (electrochemical resistant) rubber compound, so that Green Stripe® straight coolant hose show no electrochemical degradation effect.
This new hose is compatible with a variety of coolant concentrates, and it maintains the proper ratio of
water-to-coolant concentrate for a longer time, because it resists permeation of water molecules through the hose wall. This reduces maintenance costs for topping off the radiator and the need to preserve a proper water/antifreeze balance.
The polymers in Gates Green Stripe® straight coolant hose provide a better bond to stems and connectors,
which reduces cold coolant leaks. The hose is highly durable because it is less prone to cuts and cover abrasion, and clamps are not likely to compress into the cover.
